My Practice

Mission, Philosophy & Style

My mission is to find the root cause of disease and dysfunction and to work with my patients to regain their health and vibrancy so they can be their best in the world!

I value a collaborating relationship with my patients, serving as their guide while encouraging them to take a significant role in optimizing their health. I look beyond symptomatic relief and search for the root cause of disease, dysfunction and poor health. I take time to sit with my patients and talk in depth about their lifestyle, environment, mind, body and spiritual connection and take them all into consideration.

I utilize my advanced education with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) to help find where imbalances may be and help patients to restore those imbalances. I use traditional labs as well as functional assessments and special testing to get to the root of the dysfunction.

Many patients find success in my treatments because I can use conventional medications when appropriate, but I mostly work on education of lifestyle, diet, nutraceutical supplementation, detoxification modalities, IV chelation and nutrient replacement, just to name a few modalities.

Background

I cherish my relationship with my patients and together we  find success because of our relationship and the knowledge I have in advanced healthcare.

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner, having earned my  undergraduate nursing at the University of Iowa and my masters in Science at Regis University in Denver, Colorado in 2006. I have been in the Fellowship Program with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (now Metabolic Medical Institute) since 2008 and continue my education with them year after year. I believe in continuing education as the evolution of medicine is ever changing, challenging and exciting.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.

The Seven basic principles are underlying Functional Medicine:

  1. Science-based medicine that connects the emerging research base to clinical practice.

  2. Biochemical individuality based on genetic and environmental uniqueness

  3. Patient-centered care rather than disease-focused treatment

  4. Dynamic balance of internal and external factors that affect total functioning

  5. Web-like interconnections among the body’s physiological processes also affect every aspect of functionality

  6. Health as a positive vitality, not merely the absence of disease

  7. Promotion of organ reserve as a means to enhance the health span

Testimonials

"I call Carrie my miracle worker.  When I recently tested positive for the Epstein-Barr virus, she recommended IV Nutrient Therapy treatments with Jessica. I was hesitant at first as I’ve never been a huge fan of needles or IV’s. Jessica instantly put me at ease. She’s a fantastic nurse! To my surprise, the IV treatment was a very relaxing experience. I didn’t expect to see immediate results, but I can happily say that after only one treatment, I felt like a new person and was able to resume my normal activities. All of the symptoms that I had been struggling with for weeks had vanished!."
